Ask any musician and chances are they’ll tell you they are their harshest critic. For Philly-based independent singer/songwriter VICTORIA WATTS, who doubles as a music journalist for a variety of publications and her own blog, that’s even more the case. But it’s precisely that dedication to studying the art and refining the process of making music that’s helped establish her pop-sensibilities and shape her sound—catchy, toe tapping, guitar-driven pop/rock with a touch of soul and a gypsy heart. Her life’s journey has taken her from her San Diego hometown, where she grew up surrounded by her musically inclined family, across the country to the The Contemporary Music Center collective in Martha’s Vineyard, with a stop in Nashville as a songwriting intern (where can we sign up for that internship?!), before landing in the City of Brotherly Love. Between classes at Eastern University she would busk for extra money, where a passerby who just happened to be a booking agent got her on track and she began her career as a professional musician. With an EP and full length record under belt, Watts is well on her way to making a name for herself in the music scene, and shows no signs of slowing down the wandering spirit on her endless quest for musical wisdom.
