Meet Maestro David Amado!

Sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware, on Sunday, April 29, 2012, the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware will hold its Annual Meeting, featuring comments by the Delaware Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director, David Amado. The program will highlight “The Jewish Musical Heritage in Delaware.” This event will be held at the Bernard and Ruth Siegel Jewish Community Center, 101 Garden of Eden Road, Wilmington, and is free and open to the public.

Following the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware’s annual meeting at 3:45, the program featuring Maestro Amado’s comments and musical performances by Bob Weiner’s Kishkapella Quartet, Sheldon Sandler’s Tater Patch group, Cindy Goldstein and others. A reception with light fare will follow the program.

About Maestro David Amado: Philadelphia native David Amado has reinvigorated the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, turning it into a premier regional orchestra. His innovative programming, approachable demeanor and natural and instinctive music-making have made him a formidable musical presence. In addition to his concert schedule, David can be heard regularly on NPR affiliate WHYY and WVUD radio. He has also been heard nationally on NPR’s Performance Today and Dial-a-musician.

About Kishkapella: Kishkapella is an a capella quartet which includes New Castle County Councilman Bob Weiner. The quartet performs a varied repertoire which draws upon Jewish and American heritages and includes jazz, show tunes, Hebrew, Israeli, classical, classic rock and comedy numbers.

About Tater Patch: Tater Patch, featuring Wilmington attorney Sheldon Sandler, is one of the Delaware Valley's favorite old-time bands playing a wide variety of delightful tunes and songs drawn from the golden era of old-time recorded music in the 1920s.

About Cindy Goldstein: Miss Goldstein is a local vocalist who has performed in many musical venues in the Brandywine Valley.

About the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware: Founded in 1974, the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware acquires, preserves, and publishes materials pertaining to the history of Jewish settlement and life in Delaware.
