WRC Work Groups

Wilmington Renaissance Corporation (WRC) is a privately funded, non-profit economic development organization focused on the revitalization of downtown Wilmington.

The organization has three working groups of volunteers who focus on different aspects of making Wilmington an even greater place to live, play and prosper.

Working Groups

WRC has three working groups that each meet once a month. They include:

  • Business Growth
  • Marketing
  • Transportation

The groups consist of community members, professionals in the field, representatives from other nonprofits, city officials, business owners, and others who work to address challenges, identify new opportunities, advocate for necessary changes and explore new collaborations.

Business Growth Group

The Business Growth Group focuses on issues surrounding retaining and recruiting businesses to downtown.

WRC recently launched the Downtown Business Information Zone (DBIZ) as a source of information for individuals looking to open a business in downtown. DBIZ is a result of business growth meetings.

Marketing Group

The Marketing Group is focused on moving the city's new image campaign forward.

It is also a forum for sharing new ideas about promoting the city, exploring and executing targeted campaigns, and brainstorming event ideas for downtown.

Transportation Group

The Transportation Group focuses on improvements for pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

The group is working on improving the city gateways, exploring funding options for crosswalk improvements throughout downtown and other challenges for getting around the city in a car or on foot.
