DCAD is Delaware’s first and only professional art and design school. The college offers the Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design and Photography. DCAD was founded in 1997 as a collaborative effort between two of America’s most distinguished art schools, Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art + Design. In its first year of operation, DCAD enrolled 50 full-time degree students. The school now enrolls 220 full-time students, more than half of whom live in college-sponsored housing in downtown Wilmington.
In addition, DCAD's Continuing Education Program offers courses in the areas of Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Photography and Young Artists (for high school students). The program offers courses for high school aged students and older.
