CHRISTINA on the WILMINGTON ART LOOP - EDWARD LOPER SR. GALLERY EXHIBITS Christina actively participates in Art Loop Wilmington, hosting exhibitions from local and regional artists. Receptions and gallery talks often accompany events, and all are free and open to the public. Joseph Repetti will present his exhibit Music Icons and notes, "Art is my religion, creating is every day, and I'm fortunate to work with young minds that will shape our world.” Repetti is a 36-year-old artist and beloved public school teacher from Wilmington. Since graduating from Delaware State University in 2004, he has taught elementary art education for Christina School District and has worked with the CCAC and Kuumba Academy village for the past 10 summers. Repetti’s exhibit features a collection of some of his favorite musicians throughout history. Artistic Statement: What began as an assignment in a painting class while at Delaware State University, became a lifelong project of music icon portraits. Originally, I had to create a cohesive body of work that included 12 paintings of any subject matter I wanted. I am obsessed with music as much as with art, so I decided to create portraits of some of my favorite musicians through history. After the class and completion of college, I continued to create portraits of musical icons, some I've sold, some I've given away and many grace the walls of my home. I present selections from a larger body of work that includes over 50 oil, watercolor and charcoal drawings of various musical icons from Mozart to Michael Jackson. December 7, 2018 to January 25, 2019 • Opening Reception Friday, December 7, 5:30-8:00pm at CCAC Edward Loper Sr. Gallery • 705 N. Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
