Jason Weaver: Works on Paper will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from July 6-27, 2018. The artist will host a free closing reception on Friday, July 27 from 5-7 p.m.
The works in the exhibition show the range of Weaver’s work from academic figure studies to people in contemporary street scenes. His main subject matter is the human form and he typically works in charcoal, chalk, or graphite on paper. Weaver said, "I enjoy the challenge of capturing a mood. The overall goal is to bring the viewer in, and even if for a moment, relate to the subject. The human form has a sort of organic symmetry that is difficult to capture but rewarding when it strikes a chord with the viewer.”
The Mezzanine Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located on the second floor of the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington.
