Keynote speaker Ben Flanner, CEO and co-founder of New York’s Brooklyn Grange, will share how the world’s largest soil-based rooftop farm produces and sells vegetables, herbs, hot sauce, and honey on 2 ½ acres of intensive green roof. DEUFFC’s mission is to support community-oriented urban agricultural projects to expand healthy food access in Northern Delaware and bring together resources and technical assistance through a collaborative approach to urban farming. Refreshments will be provided by Delaware Local Food Exchange and Honeybee Seasonal Kitchen and Market. Brooklyn Grange’s book, The Farm on the Roof: What Brooklyn Grange Taught Us about Entrepreneurship, Community, and Growing a Sustainable Business, will be available for pre-order with registration and during the event.
