For the last 125 years, West End Neighborhood House has continuously expanded the reach of its services to help Delawareans in need. Our unique and innovative programs and dedicated staff are always creating new tools, programs and partnerships to further serve our diverse customer base.
We provide the resources families and individuals need to achieve independence and self sufficiency and serve as an anchor for the Wilmington community. We focus on GED preparation and academic classes, employment training and placement, financial literacy and management, low-interest loan products, affordable child care and housing and community revitalization throughout Wilmington.
We also pride ourselves on acting quickly to help families and individuals facing uncertainty and hardship. We took on the challenge of helping former foster care youth adjust to adult independence after being released from state care; we confronted the predatory lending industry by providing community members a safe, low-interest alternative to high-risk payday loans; we cut through the chaos and bureaucracy following Hurricane Katrina and began relocating homeless families to the Wilmington area; and when the economy declined in 2008, we quickly created services to accommodate out-of-work auto workers and the thousands of Delawareans vulnerable to foreclosure.
We have proven that hard work, compassion and innovation can lead to stronger, healthier communities. No matter what lies ahead, West End will continue to be a haven for those seeking safety, a beacon for those that have lost their way, and an anchor for those in need.
As you explore our website, we hope you find a program or population we serve that speaks to you. Whether you are seeking services or are interested in helping our organization flourish, we welcome you to West End.
